MENTORING AND CHANGING THE

NEXT GENERATION

FAMILIE TIEZ TUTORING

We believe that a student’s performance is the most apparent indicator of the student’s overall well-being. We believe that by investing time with a child, we will uncover the cause of their academic and behavior struggle and with assistance, their energies can be redirected toward a positive and productive future. (FTT) Supplemental Educational Program is an educational curriculum based program developed to assist Kindergarten through 12th grade students in the areas of Math, English/Language Arts, and Science. FTT tutors are trained to identify students' dominant learning style (s) (Concrete, Abstract, Active and Reflective) and to capitalize on these strengths and abilities by utilizing instructional methods and materials that accommodate each student's unique learning style. We recruit volunteers who are teachers in the school that our students attend. If district teachers are not interested in becoming tutors, members are selected after several rigorous interviewing sessions, based upon past performance, ethics and successful criminal background and fingerprinting checks. We also recruit bilingual (English & Spanish) instructors to work with our English Language Learners. Instructors will receive ongoing training on our curriculum and testing methods that focuses on research-based methodology that has been deemed effective in helping students reach educational success, tutors are trained by the Program Director and webinars offered throughout the year. FTT's overall instructional approach draws from the research on multiple intelligences and learning styles. Our instructors consult with parents/guardians, classroom teachers, and school/district administrators to determine each student's goals and create Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). Using specific achievement goals based on student's current academic needs, we are dedicated to creating a tutoring program that is tailored to each student's unique needs and that is in conjunction with their classroom learning.
