Familie Tiez STEM Program

Familie Tiez Mentoring

"Mentoring Makes a Difference"  Mentoring programs enrich children's lives and helps meet their needs for positive adult contact and provides one on one support and advocacy.  We aim to help young people improve their lives by building self esteem and developing values during critical periods of growth.

Approximately one in four children of the 25 million aged 10 to 17 are in dire need of assistance because they are growing up in environments that place them at high risk of engaging in multiple problem behaviors.

These youth are likely to fail or fail to attend school, and to experience difficulties in making connections between school and work and in relating to peers, teachers and parents. These children are also more likely to have low expectations for achievement and low resistance to peer influences and to lack parental support. Our program has been to designed to provide youth with the needed positive experiences and influences they lack.

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”
                                                                                                  ― Benjamin Franklin

The goal of Familie Tiez is to strengthen interpersonal relationships and increase social support networks for our youth. Assisting disadvantaged youth to develop healthy connections with their mentor and with other youth and young adults involved in the program will help stabilize and strengthen the life of a young person in need, as well as develop leadership skills in the young adult mentor. Familie Tiez will become a representation of the importance of community support, and the entire city will be enhanced by the success of this program
